General Information
Summer Connections programs offer
students the opportunity to review skills,
explore areas of interest, recover credit,
and/or gain additional credit during the summer.
At the elementary and middle school levels,
Summer Connections classes are designed
to review skills in the areas of reading,
writing, and mathematics. In some cases the
classes at the middle school level provide a
second chance for a student who has failed a
specific class during the regular school year.
There are also classes that provide
opportunities for students to explore areas of
interest or simply have fun!
Many classes at the high school level provide
students with the opportunity to recover or
gain, a semester's credit for each class
successfully completed (including the final
exam).
Two OPTIONAL Parent/Student/Mentor meetings
will be available to those students taking an
online course for the first time. The OPTIONAL
meetings will take place on Wednesday, June
6th and on Monday, June 18th—both will begin
at 7:00 p.m. in the Forum at Hillside
Middle School. There is no charge; however,
registration is required (see online
registration form).
Students taking an online class this year
will be required to take their final exam in the
computer lab at Hillside Middle School.
Optional dates are available when the
registration form is filled out. Grades for
online classes will be available beginning
10-1-12.
The Summer Connections program is
organized by the Office of Instructional
Services and district staff. The program is
self-supported through tuition, and minimum
enrollment is required through pre-registration
efforts.
